Introduction

The Doriot Climatic Chambers are a one-of-a-kind facility that can reproduce environmental conditions occurring anywhere around the world. They can simulate temperature, humidity, wind, rainfall and solar radiation. These conditions can be setup separately or run concurrently.

The size and configuration of the chambers provide great flexibility. The dual chambers allow simultaneous testing in both tropic and arctic environments. This enables you to have numerous studies completed in a relatively short amount of time, which calculates into savings. The sizes of the wind tunnels are 60 feet long by 10 feet high by 15 feet wide. The external access doors of each chamber are 8 feet high by 10 feet wide.

The Tropic Wind Tunnel has the ability to create temperatures ranging from 0 to 165 degrees Fahrenheit with 10 to 90 percent relative humidity. Rain can be simulated at up to 4 inches per hour with wind up to 40 miles per hour. Solar load can be simulated with a system consisting of six rows of 250-watt light bulbs.

The Arctic Wind Tunnel has the ability to create temperatures ranging from minus 70 degrees below zero to 120 degrees Fahrenheit with 10 to 90 percent relative humidity. Rain can be simulated at rates up to 4 inches per hour with wind up to 40 miles per hour.

The desired conditions of temperature with wind and relative humidity are constantly controlled to within plus or minus 1 degree.

There are conditioning rooms associated with each chamber as well. These rooms are used for pre-conditioning the items for actual testing by bringing the temperature and humidity up or down slowly depending on what condition is desired. The conditioning chambers may also be used to test small equipment or clothing at less expense than the larger wind tunnels.

The Tropic Conditioning Room simulates temperatures ranging from 40 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit with 10 to 90 percent relative humidity, and the Arctic Conditioning Room simulates temperatures of -50 degrees to 70 degrees. Both conditioning rooms measure 25 feet long by 15 feet wide by 10 feet high.

The Climatic Chambers provide an invaluable service by significantly reducing the need to conduct actual field testing and eliminate the need to transport and ship products, or rent alternate testing chamber and contracting of test personnel. There is an external observation area to watch and monitor the testing within the chamber.

We provide you with real time customized plotting, graphing and print outs of the data you are seeking. We provide two operators to monitor the conditions during the test.
